Henley Sharks Netball History
The Henley Sharks Netball Club was established in 2018 by a dedicated group of women who identified an issue with the current structure servicing netball needs in the Western Suburbs of Adelaide. There have been waitlists at established Clubs for many years and kids were missing the opportunity to be involved in the benefits of team sports. As such the Henley Sharks Netball was created to fill this void. This action provided over 100 children and adults the opportunity to play netball where they could not previously.
The Henley Sharks Netball are partnered with the Henley Sharks Football Club and as such promote the participation in sport creating a sense of community spirit (‘WE ARE HENLEY’) along with a safe and friendly environment where netball players and their families can socialise and mix with other members of the Henley Sharks community.
In their inaugural Season The Henley Sharks Netball club was structured with the following teams;
18 teams (Approx. 163 players) 3 Seniors (Opens and Under 17s) and 15 Juniors (Under 15s - Under 8s)
The second season (2020) saw an increase of 6 teams taking the total number of teams to 24.
The early success of this Club and the culture created has been extremely positive for the entire Henley community.
The club participates in the SAUCNA competition - South Australia Uniting Church Netball Association. (www.saucna.net/home.aspx) - This competition has approximately 50 participating Netball clubs from all over metro Adelaide.
