Vale - BERNIE BUTLER 21st April 1953 - 9th December 2024
It is with great sadness we acknowledge the passing of Club Stalwart Bernie Butler.
Bernie has been a passionate servant and supporter of the Sharks for over 20 years.
His sharp wit, caring nature and willingness to ‘have a chat’ will be sadly missed.
He came to Henley in the early 2000s and took on a position as a trainer for the Senior Teams and the Under 17/18 Teams for many years.
His connection and love for the C Grade Team continued over the years with him celebrating this season’s Undefeated Premiership.
Bernie was a Member of the Australian Armed Forces, serving in the Medical Corps. He was a regular participant in our ANZAC Day Game ceremonies. For the last few years Bernie was confined to a wheel chair but this certainly didn’t curtail his love for his beloved Sharks. Large as life he would whiz into the Changerooms to sing the victory song with the players. It was certainly fitting that he witnessed a fabulous day at Woodville Oval this year with 3 Senior Premierships.
Rest in Peace - Great Man
The beers are cold, seafood on the menu and mates ready to share ‘tall stories’.
Bernie Butler - A Shark for Life

We brought netball to our great club in 2019 seeing massive growth in participation.
