Senior Coaching Update

Senior Football is now well under way for season 2018, with The Sharks commencing preseason in November 2017.  While most supporters would be aware of some of the unexpected coaching changes that occurred as a result of other football organisations recognizing the quality people The Sharks had attracted, most of the coaching positions are now filled.

The A grade coach, Jarrad ‘Pretzel’ Parker will be assisted by line coaches Ryan Sampson and Iszac Thompson.  These three need no introduction to Henley supporters having played and/or coached at various times in Henley’s history.

The B grade coach, Sam Heeps, is new to the Henley this year and will be assisted by George Charalabidis.  Sam comes from a successful coaching career with Pulteney but the Heeps name is not new to Henley.  His father Paul is a life member, A grade medal winner and former coach with The Sharks.

The C grade will by coached by Chris Brown again but this year Tristan Kouwenhoven will move from a playing role to assistant coach in 2018.  A valuable addition to Henley’s coaching ranks.

Brad ‘Bomber’ Graham is unable to continue as under 18’s coach in 2018 due to other commitments but will move into a development coaching role that will include both players and coaches.  It’s great that Henley will retain Bombers knowledge and skills.

This year Henley will enter an under 18 girls team into the competition for the first time.  This team will be coached by Karl Dobner who was involved in Henley’s junior girls teams in 2017 as a coach.

The under 18 Boys team will be coached by Kyle ‘Slip’ Nicol in 2018.  It’s great to see such a young player willing to give back to Henley at such an early stage in his career.

With Callum Dunk returning to playing football himself in 2018, the Sharks C7 team is seeking a coach and an appointment will hopefully be made shortly.

The men’s senior group continues to train on Mondays and Thursdays at this stage.

Mondays are at Henley Football Club starting at 6pm and Thursdays are mostly at Grange Cricket Oval also starting at 6pm.  All players are welcome and are encouraged to attend and this includes any under 18 players who have not already joined this group.

Players need to register asap if they have not done so already and the link attached to this post will take them to the registration page.  No payment is required at this stage but ensure your details, especially your email address, are correct to ensure you receive future communications.
