1899
The newspaper article on the right was published in the 1899 South Australian Newspaper on Monday the 30th of October (page 7).
Without the existance of television, radio and other electronic media, newspapers were the only form of communication, as on top of publishing sporting results, clubs would adevertise the happenings of events and social gatherings. Fortunately over 100 years later such articles now stand as fossils in history as this particular reading states that the year of 1899 was most likely the year the Henley Beach Football Club was formed.
With the additional scores below also found, it is known that the Club was affiliated to a competition called the Port Adelaide Football Association and throughout its 10 game season it won 5 games and lost 5.

1901-1905
From the year of 1901 to 1905, any newspaper evidence of a Henley Beach Football Team has yet to been found, but the large 1906 records that appear highlight similar administration and player names from the origin years, confirming the continuity and togetherness of the Club.
Other Discoveries
Before 1899, match results from a team known as Grange have been found and also state the use of the Grange Oval. With Grange being very much a part of what the Club is today, its players of the 19th century were most likely those who united to found the first Henley Beach team and its ongoing seasons.
