C Grade vs Angle Vale - Round 17 2008
Chocolates lead Sharks to sweet victory!
Henley 10.11 (71) def. Angle Vale 5.16 (46)
Best: Tonka, Chocolates, Hooker, Jenno, Kitey, Coxy
Goals: Barnos, Ehrlich 3, Chocolates, Junior, Rugs, Walshey.
The Sharks have all but secured the double chance with a hard-fought win against fellow finalists Angle Vale. A win against bottom placed SMOSH West Lakes next week will ensure third position for the Sharks while if Angle Vale (5th) can get up against Athelstone (2nd) the Sharks could slip into 2nd spot and possibly grab a home qualifying final.
The Sharks battled hard in the 1st quarter into the wind and did well to break even with Angel Vale before taking a 3 goal lead into half time. The Sharks again held steady in the 3rd before pushing home well in the last to record a 25 point win.
Tonka and "Chocolates" Caldow were sensational in the midfield while Hooker had another good day at CHF in conditions not suitable for tall forwards. Jenno’s hardness at the ball was unrivalled by any players on either side, Kitey did some great taps work in the ruck and Coxy also had some good moments in the guts. Barnos and Ehrlich booted 3 each with Chocolates, Junior (yes, this is not a typo), Rugs and Walshey chipped in for one each.
The King C’s should have a few players back from injury next week and will be looking for a big win against a struggling but determined SMOSH West Lakes to try to snag 2nd spot.
