Henley 18.15 (123) def Athelstone 4.8 (32)

The C grade put on a devastating display of team football to set up a
massive encounter against Paralowie next weekend for the chance to go
straight through to the 2008 Grand Final!

C Grade vs SHOC - Round 4 2008
Sensational C's go top!
The sensational C’s continued on their merry way towards a top 3 position with an 87 point mauling of SHOC. With several players coming back down from the B grade and with the experience of ‘Hooker’ Loveder and ‘Lemaze’ Jeffries missing, there was always the danger of the team not gelling and taking the game too lightly. This could not have been further from the truth as the Sharks raced away to a 4 goal first quarter lead and then extended it to a ten goal lead by half time.
C Grade vs Adelaide Uni - Round 3 2008
Henley 14.17 (101) def. Adelaide Uni 9.7 (61)
Best: Pitman, Jeffries, Matte, Mahney, DeMunk, Duessen
Goals: Barnes 5, Rugolo 3, Meiers 2, DeMunk, S Jones, King, Stone
Coming off a thumping win, Kingy’s Crew were keen to consolidate a top 3
position with another early season win against long-time rivals, the
Uni Blacks. The forecast for rain was not of too great a worry for the
Sharks, who were confident that their young brigade would have the legs
to run out the game in heavy conditions.
Shark Bites!
Great to see a warm
Any truth to the rumour that they all caught up again
socially at The Local Sponsor’s nightclub to reinforce their undying love for
each other?
Great
sportsmanship displayed by Ro Smith. Pity their sparky couldn’t do as good a
job on their horn! Might be worth giving Stinger or Pierso’s number to them to
get a professional!
C-Grade vs St. Pauls - Round 2 2008
The long journey up Grand Junction Road was well worth the effort for Kingy’s Crew by coming away with a 90 point victory against an unorganised St Pauls outfit. After several big losses against St Pauls in recent years, the Sharks ensured that the scoreboard did the talking, with a seven goal last quarter sealing the match. A great result for a team that endured 10 changes from its Round 1 side.
D Grade Round10: Mud Wrestle ends in disappointment
Athelstone 8.13.(61) def. Henley 6.6.(42)
Best: Lockett, Wisey, Mann
Goals: Hardy 3, Hudson 2
After
a long drive down Payneham road the sharks boys arrived at Torrens
Valley Oval relaxed and ready for a big game. The first quarter was
everything we expected with both teams coming out strong to be pretty
much even at the first break. The second quarter started well with
Henley showing what they are capable of going to a 3 goal lead at half
time. But the next forty minutes turned to heartbreak with an improved
Athelstone outplaying the sharks, putting on five goals and keeping the
sharks goalless for the second half. Ruckman Mick Lockett won every tap
in another great performance, while Wisey and Manny ran their guts out
to be two of only a handful of people who could say they played four
quarters. After the initial disappointment the boys have now realised
what is needed if we want to make a serious charge at the flag this
year.
C Grade Round 10 - Athelstone run Sharks ragged
Henley 4.12 (36) lost to Athelstone 12.10 (82)
Best: Loveder, Cox, Matte
Goals: Barnes, King, Walshe, Meiers
The Sharks put in their worst performance for the season, spinelessly submitting to a pumped up Athelstone after 3 quarters of tight football. In a mainly staid and defensive affair, both sides struggled to kick goals for the first 3 quarters before a final 15 minute blitz blew out the margin as the Raggies, pumped up for a 200th game player, humiliated the Sharks with a 6 goal last quarter.
C Grade: Young guns muzzle Lions' roar.
Henley 21.10 (136) defeated SMOSH West Lakes 13.9 (87)
Best: Mahney, Sarai, Matte, Loveder, Cox
Goals: Sarai 5, Christophers, Cox 3, Barnes 2
With some 8 players either pinched by Stubba’s B grade, injured or unavailable, Kingy’s C Grade knew that SMOSH West Lakes would certainly not be easy beats, despite their low position on the ladder. There is plenty of feeling between the Sharks and Lions with many of the players on both sides knowing each other and determined to prove their superiority. It was the Sharks young guns, Sarai, Coxy and Mahney that proved up to the task, with fast, skilful and tenacious endeavour.
